(Milton, WV)  --  Two men dressed as comic book heroes Batman and Captain America saved a cat from a burning house in West Virginia over the weekend.

John "Batman" Buckland and Troy "Captain America" Marcum saw the smoke from an American Legion hall and decided to help.

Buckland is a former firefighter and rushed into the burning house to see if anyone was inside.  "Batman" rooted around the house and pulled the cat out of the house and performed mouth-to-mouth to revive it.

Buckland told WSAZ he didn't mind when the cat woke-up and hissed at him because the moment had a "whole Batman, Catwoman thing playing, you know?"

The cat was the only one in the house at the time.  Fire officials say the fire started in a bedroom closet.
