It's that time of year again, time to discover which deep-fried gut-busters we'll be stuffing in our pie holes at the upcoming State Fair of Texas. As in the past, the categories are divided into "savory" and "sweet," with 33 deep-fried delights chosen from a pool of 49 entries to move into the semi-final round. Then it gets whittled down to the top ten entries next month, when finalists will compete during the Big Tex Choice Awards on Sunday, August 25 at Fair Park.
