Please help a child and become a Texas CASA volunteer...

I've talked about Texas CASA for years because it's something I totally believe in...not many children have that childhood that sounds like a fairy tale anymore. Just look around and see all the children that need special attention because of their family situations. Lots of kids wind up in state appointed foster programs for their own safety because of neglect or abuse. But you can lend a helping hand and make a difference in a childs' life who could really use a friend to help them go through these difficult times... please help if you can...

Here's A Few Things You Should Know About CASA:

• CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate.

• When a child enters the foster care system due to abuse or neglect, a judge may appoint a committed CASA volunteer to help him or her.

• A CASA volunteer represents the best interests of a foster child or sibling group in court, school and more, standing by them during this critical point in their life. A CASA volunteer is not a foster parent; volunteers are highly trained and screened community advocates acting as a powerful voice for a child or sibling group.

A CASA VOLUNTEER:

• Can have a significant impact on the life of a child in foster care.

• Provides a consistent, caring adult presence for the child.

• Advocates, speaks up for children in foster care to ensure their safety and future.

• Gives a child in foster care the chance at the happiness and positive future they deserve.
