OZZY: Credit Where Credit Is Due
Jack Osbourne says while he and his mother Sharon oversaw production of last night's Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne on A&E, they "can't take credit" for it.
Speaking to Sirius-XM he says, "It was our director,Greg Johnston. He just did a fantastic job. He worked with us since The Osbournes; he was one of the original executive producers of the show. So he knows us so well; he knows the sensibility..."
And Johnston says, "Because I’ve known them for close to 20 years and we’ve been in very intimate situations, whether it’s doing The Osbournes or post-Osbournes, there’s a level of trust. There’s also something with Ozzy that I don’t see with a lot of other people is that he never tried to hide anything. He doesn’t try to bury stuff and I find that very refreshing. He is very honest and isn’t trying to pull the wool over anybody. He is who is he is. He’s not someone who thinks about what he’s doing, he just does it. there was a level of trust amongst myself and all of them.”
The two-hour program covered Ozzy's life from childhood to the present day, with emphasis on Black Sabbath, how he keeps reinventing himself, the success and failure, his addictions, the bat biting, trying to kill Sharon in 1989, the death of guitarist Randy Rhoads, Ozzfest, his battle with Parkinson's Disease, and more, told by Ozzy, his family and friends, including Rick Rubin, Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie.
In other Ozzy news, he says he has no interest in doing any more Black Sabbath shows.
"It's done." says Ozzy. "The only thing I do regret is not doing the last farewell show in Birmingham with [drummer]Bill Ward. I felt really bad about that. It would have been so nice. I don't know what the circumstances behind it were, but it would have been nice."
The circumstances were Sharon and Tony Iommi, who, with Ozzy own the Black Sabbath trademark, didn't want to pay Ward what he wanted, so he walked.
