"Long" Jim White Of The Bo & Jim Show Announces Retirement

I always loved listening to radio, the music and the personalities on the air. I knew at 14 I wanted to be on the radio. My first job was in 1968 and here I am 54 years later. 40 years working with Bo Roberts, who has been my friend for 45 years. Speaking of friends, all of you for hanging with me, BO and Randy on Lonestar 92.5 for the past 20.

I loved sharing all the laughter, the music we played, sharing information about a band’s new album or concerts coming to town. We did see a lot of them didn’t we! Texxas Jams, free concerts in the Westend(remember Van Halen ) and shows in Sundance Square. Together we saw the Stones, Floyd, McCartney, Ringo, the Ramones, Hard Nights Day… And a couple hundred more! Oh, don’t forget the Bo and Jim bashes with The Frontal Lobotomy Boogie Band and Stone Cold Sweat. Playing in a band with my friends was just icing on the cake.

But as you know, my real job was Monday through Friday on Q102 and later on KZPS/Lonestar 92.5. Waking up at 1:30 AM, see BO at 2:45 AM. Both of us still shaking off the Sandman trying to find anything that was funny or interesting to tell you about. Even if there wasn’t anything in the news I knew I could say something offhanded and BO would always turn that into something hilarious. He is the most creative and funniest guy I have ever known. He always surprises me with some Corsicana witism that would crack me up, even after 45 years!I love him like a brother. And, we couldn’t do what we do without my other brother, the dynamo, producer, musician and great human being Randy James. Bo says I’m going to miss it. I will miss it. I will miss you…I will miss our fun and laughter in the morning, our blood drive broadcast and meeting our wonderful listeners who have been with us since 1982.

So many people I would like to thank I know I won’t be able to get to y’all. My family who has been with me through this journey. Kelli, MICHAEL, Joshua, James, Karen, Cathy, Robin. Tom Owens and Clint Culp of Q102 for bringing me to Dallas. Andy Lockridge, Redbeard, Rick Burt, Alan Kaye, Brenda Adrience, Kelly Kibler, Golden Perry, Don Davis, Jeff Kaye, Amy Austin, Jen Austin, Mike Vasquez, Lynn Hernandez, Joe Cucinotti, Todd Caruth, Neal Mirsky, Texas Radio Hall of Fame….and a Giant Thank Y’all for 40 memorable years in Dallas Fort Worth and all points in between!

I’m moving onto another chapter in my life, as I am still writing my story and making it up as I go along!

Keep laughing, keep music in your life! Live Long and Prosper!

Lottsa Love,

“Long” Jim White
