Ozzy and Sharon Talk to GMA about his Recovery from Surgery

In his first TV interview since he had major surgery in June, Ozzy Osbourne says his health has “improved quite considerably.” Talking to “Good Morning America,” Ozzy explained that he “can hold his head up” these days, where he tended to hunch over before the operation.

He’s doing better, but he’s not perfect. “I have to negotiate everywhere I want to go, and I tire easily, but I’m well,” he said. Ozzy was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, and has described the effect of the disease as feeling “like I’m walking around in lead boots.”

Before death made Taylor Hawkins one of rock's most famous drummers, Ozzy Osbourne wasn't familiar with him.

Speaking to Kerrang! he says, "To be perfectly honest with you, I’d never heard of him before he played on my [new] album [Patient Number 9]. But he must be good to play with Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters. When I met him, and from what I saw of him, he was a really nice man, one whose soul will surely last. I should imagine that everyone in that band was devastated when the poor guy passed away.”

Hawkins not only plays on the album, but he contributed to the lyrics of one song.

“You know what 'Degradation Rules' is about?, asks Ozzy. ”Masturbation. Sticky little magazines. A toss-pot. There’s a line in there, ‘Red Tube rules!’ which is an [ode to] the free porn website. And, do you know who suggested that? Taylor Hawkins..."

Ozzy will release Patient Number 9 on Friday, and he'll plug it with a medley of songs this Thursday night during halftime of the NFL season opener between the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Part of his performance will be shown on NBC and Peacock.
