Rod Stewart's wife, Penny Lancaster, was on hand Monday for Queen Elizabeth's funeral, but she wasn't there with her knighted husband. A special constable with the City of London Police, she was part of the security detail.

She tells England's Sky News, "With all that planning going ahead, you can never quite predict how the crowd is [going to] react and the dangers that might lay ahead. But we've had great training and preparation, and fortunately, everybody paid their respects in the proper manner and we didn't have any incidents to speak of. So, I'm very grateful for that."

She adds that she's "very proud to be able to serve" during such a "historic moment... It was a great privilege to work at the Queen's memorial service at St. Paul's Cathedral on Friday. I signed the oath of Office of Constable to Her Majesty the Queen just over a year ago, April last year, and just as the seamless tie between Her Majesty and King Charles III, my oath will now be with the King."

Penny was inspired to become a special constable after appearing on the U.K. reality show Famous and Fighting Crime, which has celebrities riding along with the police. She works part time, one day a week, patrolling the Tower Bridge.

Husband Rod was knighted by Prince William in 2016, after being awarded the honor by Queen Elizabeth and recognized for his music career as well as his contributions to charity.
