Dee Snider Rips the MTV Unplugged Era

Dee Snider is ranting again. We recently brought you the news that the Twisted Sister rocker caused a stir when he criticized some legendary colleagues, and now the singer is blaming a popular MTV show with “the demise of metal.”

Twitter was once again the site of controversial statements for Snider after responding to a fan’s question about whether they had considered doing MTV’s infamously intimate “Unplugged.” “I have an incredible aversion to MTV's ‘Unplugged,’ wrote Snider. “It always suggested to me that somehow we weren't 'legit' if we couldn't play our stuff acoustic.”

The singer went on to admit he had censored himself from saying he “hate(s)” the show, opting instead to “class it up.” But Snider did confirm that the moment fans insist Paul Simon or Tracy Chapman show off their electric guitar skills, he’ll be happy to “ride the lightning” and play an acoustic set.
