Original BTO Member, Tim Bachman Passes at the age of 71. Randy Reacts

Randy Bachman has commented on the death last week from brain cancer of his brother Tim, his former bandmarte in Brave Belt and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. “I am the last of my family on this side with all my memories of our life growing up in Winnipeg. So grateful for that. I’m sure my parents welcomed him home with my other two brothers who have passed in quick succession since the pandemic. I was the oldest. Rest in Peace, Timmy with mummy, daddy, Gary & Robbie.” Tim Bachman was 71 and was the third of the four Bachman brothers. Gary, the second oldest, passed in 2020, and Robbie, the youngest and drummer in BTO, followed this past January. Randy is 79.

Tim Bachman, a founding member with his brothers Randy and Robbie of Bachman-Turner Overdrive, died last Thursday from brain cancer at the age of 71.

His son Ryder, a musician who goes by Paxton Bachman, posted the news of Facebook, saying, "Grateful I got to spend some time with him at the end. Grab yer loved ones and hug em close, ya never know how long you have...

"The last words he said were, “I love you Paxton. Share the music...”

Tim, the third of the four Bachman brothers, is the second one to die this year. Robbie Bachman, BTO's drummer and the youngest, died in January. He was 69.

The second oldest brother, Gary, who was not in the band, died in June 2020.

And, as we reported exclusively in February, Randy almost died last year.

Tim, who played guitar and sang, was a member, with Randy, of Brave Belt, which morphed into BTO. He played on their first two albums, both released in 1973 -- Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Bachman-Turner Overdrive II, which included "Takin' Care of Business" and "Let It Ride."

He was then fired for violating Randy's strict rules about drugs and alcohol and was replaced by Blair Thornton

He rejoined in 1984 and left four years later, going on to a career in real estate.

He suffered a heart attack in 2008 and underwent quadruple bypass surgery.
