Released on this day in 1983, Pyromania is the third studio album by Def Leppard. Produced by "Mutt" Lange, it was the band’s first to feature guitarist Phil Collen who replaced founding member Pete Willis. Shifting away from the band's traditional heavy metal roots, the album was a decided move toward more radio-friendly glam metal and hard rock, which propelled the band to massive mainstream success. Featuring the singles "Photograph", "Rock of Ages", "Foolin'" and “Too Late For Love,” the album charted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and was kept from the top spot by Michael Jackson's 'Thriller.' Since its release, the album has sold over ten million copies in the US alone.
