Sammy Hagar is not a Hagar.
He found this out on the PBS show Finding Your Roots. The show's host, educator Henry Louis Gates Junior, told Sammy that his DNA does not match any men with the last name Hagar -- which means genetically, that's not his last name.
Hagar couldn't believe it, saying, "This is nutty as anything I’ve ever imagined.”
However, his DNA did match 27 men with the last name Belcher.
The episode airs tonight at 7 p.m.
