Released on this day in 1970, Morrison Hotel is the 5th studio album by The Doors. It was considered the band's "comeback" after the critical failure of The Soft Parade. Featuring the hit "Roadhouse Blues" along with "Waiting For The Sun" and "Peace Frog" the album would go on to sell 2 million copies worldwide, half of that in the US alone. To celebrate the 50th anniversary three years ago, guitarist Robby Krieger was joined on-stage at a recent event in Hollywood at the Sunset Marquis by the Tangiers Blues Band and producer Andrew Watt, along with Gary Clark Jr., the Struts, Nicole Atkins, Miley Cyrus and Dennis Quaid. Doors fans also gathered at the site of the original Morrison Hotel to celebrate the fourth annual 'Day of The Doors.' They were treated to a restoration of the window in the front of the Morrison Hotel where the iconic album cover photo was taken, and a meet-and-greet with Kreiger and album cover photographer Henry Diltz.
