Pearl Jam's New Album, 'Dark Matter', Out in April

Pearl Jam's new album, Dark Matter, will be released on April 19th.

The group has released the title track as the first single that comes with a visualizer featuring light painting art by Alexandr Gnezdilov, who did the cover and the artwork for the album. Watch it now on YouTube.

Guitarist Stone Gossard says the title track originated from a Matt Cameron drumbeat.

The album was produced by Andrew Watt, who produced Eddie Vedder's last solo album Earthling. The band says that when they set up shop at Rick Rubin's Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, they had a "burst of inspiration" that allowed them to do the basic tracks in just three weeks.

The day after Dark Matter is released is Record Store Day, and the band says they'll be releasing as special edition of the album on that day to independent record stores.

Dark Matter is Pearl Jam's 12th album, and first since Gigaton in 2020.

Pearl Jam have also announced a tour in support of Dark Matter that has two North American legs. The first starts May 4th in Vancouver and wraps up in Seattle May 30th. They then head to Europe from June 22nd through July 13th. The second North American leg starts August 22nd in Missoula, Montana and wraps up September 17th in Boston. Ten Club members pre-sale is on now. Non-fan club members can register through Ticketmaster now through Sunday night for general on-sales.

As of press time, no Texas-area dates for Pearl Jam have been announced.
