Ozzy Osbourne actually has a passing interest this time in being nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for his solo work, telling Rolling Stone it's been "driving" him "mad."
"It's an honor that I'm nominated, but I'm not expecting to get in. There's Mariah Carey, there's Cher, Lenny Kravitz. I'm up against some serious people. If I get in, I get in. If I don't, I don't."
When Black Sabbath was first nominated for induction in 1999, he could care less, saying, “The nomination is meaningless, because it's not voted on by the fans. It's voted on by the supposed elite for the industry and the media, who've never bought an album or concert ticket in their lives, so their vote is irrelevant to me… Let's face it, Black Sabbath has never been media darlings. We're a people's band and that suits us just fine."
Sabbath were finally elected for induction in 2006, and since then, voting has been open to the public, but it's certainly not to the degree that Ozzy would have liked when he made that comment. The top five artists selected by the public only comprise a “fans’ ballot” that is tallied along with the other ballots to determine the inductees.
Ozzy was leading the Fan Vote up until this past Monday when the Dave Matthews pulled ahead leaving Ozzy in second followed by, in order, Foreigner, Peter Frampton and Cher in the top five.

Inductees will be announced at the end of April. The Induction Ceremony will take place this fall in Cleveland with the date and venue to be announced.
Ozzy Osbourne helps out his friend and Ozzy Speaks co-host Billy Morrison on his new single "Crack Cocaine."
The track appears on Morrison's new album The Morrison Project, which is due out April 19th. "Crack Cocaine" also features guitar work by Morrison's fellow guitarist in Billy Idol's band, Steve Stevens.
The video for the song stars Paris Jackson along with Osbourne, Morrison and Stevens. Watch it below.
"Crack Cocaine" is the first song Osbourne has appeared on since the release of his 2022 album Patient Number 9.
