On This Day In 1982 The Clash Released 'Combat Rock'

Released on this day in 1982 Combat Rock is the fifth studio album by The Clash. In the U.K. the album charted at number 2, spending 23 weeks in the charts and peaked at number 7. In the U.S. it spent 61 weeks on the chart. Featuring two of the band's most radio-friendly singles "Rock the Casbah" and "Should I Stay or Should I Go," and enormous support from MTV, Combat Rock has gone on to sell more than 2 million copies in the U.S. alone. The commercial success of Combat Rock sadly led to infighting in the band and would prove to be the last Clash album featuring the classic lineup before Topper Headon and Mick Jones were fired.
