Eric Clapton Retiring? I Don't Think So

Eric Clapton, 79, has been talking about retiring since the late '90s, but we see how that's worked out.

Now, in an online interview with The Real Music Observer, he says he told a fellow member of Alcoholics Anonymous that he's "compelled" to record and perform because he "loves to play music. I love to challenge myself to see if I can still do the things I used to do."

But his friend disagreed, saying it's because of the 12th Step in AA's Twelve-Step program.

Clapton just wrapped up 14 dates in the U.K., France and Italy, and will return to the road on September 20th in Argentina for six dates in Latin America, followed by three in California in October, including the finale at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on the 13th.

His new concert album, To Save a Child, which is streaming and available for download, will be released on vinyl, CD and Blu-Ray on July 12th.

His new studio album, Meanwhile, may be out as early as the fall.
