Black Sabbath founder and guitarist Tony Iommi is working on a new music.
In an interview with Full Metal Jackie he said, “I just do stuff when I feel like it, because, obviously, I’ve got a life to live and I like to do all the different stuff. But I’ve really enjoyed doing this stuff, as I did with Ozzy when I’d done a couple of tracks for his last album [2022’s Patient Number 9]... And I’m quite open for all that now. Whatever comes, and I like it, I do it.”
When pressed if it will be a "proper record” under his own name, he said, “No, I’m gonna do a record. And I’ve got a lot of stuff [written]. But now we’re actually getting around to sort of putting it together, myself and the engineer. So it’s been good fun, really... And that’s what it's all about, really. And I’m looking forward to actually doing it and an album coming out.”
Iommi first recorded a solo album in 1986, which turned into Black Sabbath's Seventh Star because the label felt Sabbath had more cache. He then did two more albums -- Iommi in 2000 and Fused in 2005.
His most recent solo recording was 2021's "Scent of Dark" in conjunction with the release of his fragrance of the same name. And last year he collaborated with System of a Down singer Serj Tankian on a song called "Deconstruction."
