David Gilmour has taken a unique approach to his new album, Luck and Strange, when it comes to the choir and orchestra.
In a new video posted on his socials showing them in the recording studio, he says, "Although they’re deliberately out of tune, they somehow seem to fit.”
Gilmour has also posted a video in which he demonstrates one of the unique sounds he makes on the guitar, which he calls a "swell" because "it's a swelling sort of sound. A sound I've used many times on all sorts of tracks going back years and years and years.
“It's sort of slightly orchestral. It's created with delays but you don't hear the impact note in theory.”
He's also posted a video that gives a sneak peak of the album's opening instrumental track, "Black Cat," and another highlighting one of his favorite guitars, a 1945 Martin D-18 acoustic.
Luck and Strange will be released on September 6th.
