September 3, 1982, Labor Day weekend, the three-day Us Festival kicked off in San Bernardino, California, featuring performances from Talking Heads, The Police, Ramones. The rest of the weekend featured The Cars, Kinks, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Pat Benatar, Jackson Browne and The Grateful Dead. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak bankrolled the event.
