The Who's 60th anniversary is being celebrated by England's Royal Mail with 12 special stamps.
Eight stamps will feature the album covers of 1965’s My Generation, 1969’s Tommy, 1971’s Who’s Next, 1973’s Quadrophenia, 1978’s Who Are You, 1981’s Face Dances, 2006’s Endless Wire, and 2019’s WHO.
Two more will feature promotional photos, and the final two will have performance images -- 1967 at the Marquee Club in London, and 1973 at Kings Hall, Belle Vue in Manchester.
Roger Daltrey says, "The artwork on the album sleeves was almost as important to the success of the record as the music. It’s great to be reminded of them.”
And Pete Townshend adds, “Stamp! Stamp! Stamp! It’s what I’ve done on stage all my life, sometimes in the air. At last, my stamping, and that of my buddy Roger, has been honored properly, and will help letters, parcels and birthday cards travel through time and space, just as we have.”
The stamps can be pre-ordered now for $30 at RoyalMail.com/TheWho. They go on sale on October 17th.
The Who are the seventh U.K. act to be honored with stamps following The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden and the Spice Girls.

The Doobie Brothers will follow up their ongoing 50th anniversary tour with Michael McDonald with a new album, their first with him since 1980's One Step Closer. (He does appear on 2014's Southbound, a collection of their hits that they re-recorded with country artists.)
Pat Simmons tells the Arizona Republic, "We kind of worked on it over the winter. Same producer that produced our last album, [2021's Liberte], John Shanks, only this time, Mike's involved in writing with us and recording. So that's another great moment for us, having Mike involved in this album.
"He's a fabulous singer, a great person and just always fun to be around, an inspiring guy and a good friend of mine forever. So it's really nice having him back after all these years."
It's titled Walk This Road, and they've been performing the title track since resuming this final stretch of the tour on September 27th in Syracuse, New York.
The album will be out early next year, and the tour runs through October 16th in Saint John, Newfoundland, with the next stop this Thursday in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Also in the works is a new documentary, but no word on when that will be done.

Chicago & Friends Live at 55, celebrating the 55th anniversary of the band’s self-titled debut album, 1969’s Chicago Transit Authority (they were later forced to shorten it to Chicago), will be released in numerous formats on November 22nd. The concert, which featured guest appearances by Robin Thicke, Chris Daughtry, Steve Vai, Robert Randolph and others, was held last November in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
