Another guitar from the early days of The Beatles is headed to auction.
George Harrison’s Resonet Futurama, a Czechoslovakian-made electric guitar, is being sold next month as part of Julien’s Auctions’ Played, Worn & Torn auction.
Julien's says, "This is not just a chance to own the vintage guitar outright, it’s an opportunity to connect with the origins of The Beatles, to hold in your hands an instrument that witnessed the band’s transformation from local hopefuls to global phenomenon." It played "a crucial role in shaping The Beatles’ sound and music history.”
It's estimated to sell for between $600,000 and $800,000 at the auction, which will be held on November 20th, 21st and 22nd at the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville.
55 years ago yesterday -- October 6th, 1969 -- The Beatles released Harrison's "Something" -- the first A-side written by him -- backed with "Come Together," both off the Abbey Road album. It went to number-one, making it their first non-Lennon-McCartney song to achieve that feat.
The Beatles will reissue A Hard Day’s Night on limited-edition white vinyl in celebration of its 60th anniversary. It will be out on October 19th for National Album Day.
