Cher Remembers the Night Lennon Skinny-Dipped at the Playboy Mansion

John Lennon gets a mention in Cher's autobiography, Cher: The Memoir.

She writes that she met him and his buddy Harry Nilsson at a Los Angeles restaurant in 1974 -- during Lennon's "Lost Weekend" period -- and invited them to the infamous Playboy mansion for movie night.

Lennon and Nilsson were drunk when they arrived at the mansion and started chanting “Hef! Hef! Hef!” for the magazine's publisher, Hugh Hefner.

Cher stepped in and took them outside.

"Giggling and falling over each other, John and Harry followed me out into the grounds. Sitting them down inside the infamous Grotto – it was like a huge cave that one end of the swimming pool went into – I went to find a drink and when I came back they were standing in the middle of the Grotto naked but still in the water, thank God.

“I was trying not to laugh, but it was impossible not to as they threatened to wander around the mansion naked. It took me ages to get them back in their clothes. It was like herding drunks.”

Cher's book will be published on November 19th.
