Queen's Roger Taylor Defends Christmas Reissue

Queen drummer Roger Taylor has spoken out against critics of the 40th anniversary remix of Band Aid's charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” which is a collection of vocals from the previous four versions -- 19892004 and 2014, each featuring popular artists of the day.

Ed Sheeran, who can be heard on the latest version, says he would have denied Bob Geldof permission to use his voice from the 2014 version on this latest reissue released last week.

But Taylor has objected, writing on Instagram that he's "proud to be a part of this. It’s probably one of the greatest moments in rock ’n’ roll history actually having an effect on the world! How anyone can criticize such a magnificent and charitable project, which continues to save so many lives from famine is beyond comprehension. They need their heads examined and their values readjusted."

In 1984, Bob Geldof brought together StingPhil CollinsBonoBoy GeorgeGeorge Michael and many others to record the song in an effort to shine light on the famine in Ehtiopia.
