Pete Townshend will follow up last year's box set of live albums with one containing his studio albums.
Pete Townshend - The Studio Albums is an eight-CD set comprised that collects all seven studio albums, all remixed by his former brother-in-law Jon Astley.
Set for release on March 28th, it also contains new artwork, sleeve notes, rare photos and memorabilia in a 28-page book with a new foreword by Townshend.
Commenting on his solo work, Townshend says, "I have always written first for myself. Not as an artist but for play, for fun, for joy, for self-expression. For therapy? In a way, of course. These solo songs are therefore not Who exclusions or out-takes, they are part of a story that may well have been very different had I not made some poor decisions in the early '80s. I have stories to tell about every song, and one day I may write a book that tells of that journey, but I'm probably happier spending my time today writing new music rather than explaining how the old stuff came about."
The seven albums are:
- Who Came First - 1972
- Rough Mix (with Ronnie Lane) -1977
- Empty Glass - 1980
- All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes - 1982
- White City (A Novel) - 1985
- The Iron Man: The Musical by Pete Townshend - 1989
- Psychoderelict - 1993
- And the eighth disc is the music only version of Psychoderelict

AC/DC are the latest act to be honored with a series of stamps from England's Royal Mail.
The 12 stamps are being issued in commemoration of their first album, 1975's High Voltage.
Eight of them show the band in concert -- two with Bon Scott on vocals, five with Brian Johnson, and one of just Angus Young by himself.
The other four feature the covers of High Voltage, Highway To Hell, Back In Black, and their last one, 2020's Power Up.
The stamps go on sale February 18th with details at Shop.RoyalMail.com/Special-Stamp-Issues/AC/DC.
AC/DC are the eighth band to be honored by the Royal Mail following The Beatles in 2007, Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen in 2020, The Rolling Stones in 2022, Iron Maiden in 2023, and The Who and Spice Girls in 2024.
In 2018, AC/DC were honored with stamps in their native Australia, but instead of them featuring their Australian album covers, they featured the U.S. editions of High Voltage and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. Also included was '74 Jailbreak, which was never released in Australia.
