UPDATE TO BELOW DRAMA....
We told you that David Lee Roth took a few good-natured jabs at Sammy Hagar mid-performance last week, with a story that built off Sammy's tale of being visited by Eddie Van Halen's ghost. Sammy has now responded, and despite what some might have anticipated, he sees Dave's on-stage story as more of an "olive branch" than a dig. On Instagram, the Red Rocker wrote, "I can't believe social media is trying to make something out of this...This is the first compliment and real olive branch moment Dave and I have had in 100 years. Listen closely and you will see that this is not negative whatsoever. And I believe Dave had the dream as well. Dave's a good storyteller, but there's some truth in between the showmanship. All good with me. Keep it up, Dave. These songs we both wrote with Eddie need to be carried on forever."
Speaking of Sammy...
Tomorrow, Sammy Hagar will release a video of his Best of All Worlds Band performing Van Halen’s “Summer Nights” off his first album with the band – 1986’s 5150.
The clip is from his Las Vegas residency this past May. He also says in addition to the video, there “may be another exciting announcement…,” which is expected to be another residency.

David Lee Roth had a little fun at Sammy Hagar's expense earlier this week, humorously suggesting that he, too, had recently been visited by the ghost of Eddie Van Halen.
In August of 2022, Hagar told UCR that Van Halen, who died in October 2020, visited him in a dream and helped him write a new song: "I remembered it. I got up in the morning and I wrote the song. I used the f**$@#n’ lick that he showed me in the song."
