Sir Paul McCartney was knighted in 1997, but Ringo Starr (now 77) had given up all hope until a letter arrived from Buckingham Palace a few weeks ago. His last visit to the Palace was in 1965 when all the Fab Four were awarded the MBE. Apparently Paul McCartney was a driving force after he urged Queen Elizabeth “Look, love it’s about time.”
Sometime in early 2018 Ringo will be officially recognized for services to music and charity.
It don't come easy indeed!
