Former Texas Rangers Pitcher Busted With 20 Kilos Of Cocaine

If you were following the Texas Rangers in 1998-2000 you may remember pitcher Esteban Loaiza. Well, he was arrested Friday in California on suspicion of possessing and transporting narcotics for sale. Apparently he was pulled over for a minor traffic violation and sheriff's officers found an after-market hidden compartment in his vehicle used for smuggling. That gave them sufficient cause to seek a search warrant for his home. That's when the San Diego County Sheriff's office found about 20 kilograms of cocaine at the home Loaiza was renting in Imperial Beach. Loaiza is being held on $200,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday. Officials said the cocaine has a street value of about $500,000.
