42 Years Ago Today, Eagles Released 'Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975)'

Released on this day in 1976, Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) is the first compilation album by the Eagles. The album contains a selection of songs from the Eagles' first four albums and was the best-selling album of the 20th century in the United States.  It stayed the best-selling album in the U.S. until it was surpassed by Michael Jackson's Thriller after Jackson's death in 2009. It is the second highest-certified album by the Recording Industry Association of America at 29× Platinum, behind Thriller. In 2017, it was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or artistically significant." Happy 42nd Anniversary!
