Team USA Women's Hockey Wins Gold In Thrilling Shootout

What a game, what a game!

For those who stayed up late Wednesday night, they were treated to an incredible performance by both Team USA and Team Canada in the Gold Medal game at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, Korea.

Highlights from the Gold Medal game vs Canada

The game was tied at the end of regulation, and a 20 minute overtime couldn't decide the winner, so the game would be decided in a shootout. Many hockey purists (including myself) don't like a game of this magnitude being decided on a skills competition, but OH MY what a display of skill it was!

The two goalies made incredible stops and the teams exchanged amazing highlight reel goals. In the end, it was Team USA's Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson with this sick move (below) - followed by United States goaltender Maddie Rooney stopping a shot by Meghan Agosta of Canada, that won it all for Team USA.

The last time Team USA won gold in women's hockey was at the Nagano games in 1998, the same year the sport debuted at the Olympics. It was a redemption for Team USA as they had lost to Canada 3 out of the past 4 Olympics. And oh yea.... Team USA's victory happened 38 years to the day - February 22, 1980 - The Miracle On Ice. COOL!!
