That Time Ozzy Bit The Heads Off Two Doves

It was on this day in 1981, to coincide with the release of his debut solo album Blizzard of Ozz, when Ozzy Osbourne famously bit the head off a dove during a meeting with CBS Records executives in Los Angeles. Apparently he had planned to release doves into the air as a sign of peace, but due to being intoxicated at the time, he instead grabbed a dove and bit its head off. He then spat the head out, with blood still dripping from his lips he bit the head off a second dove.

As Ozzy recalls "I just remember this PR woman going on and on at me. In the end, I said, ‘Do you like animals?’ Then I pulled out one of these doves and bit its f---ing head off. Just to shut her up. Then I did it again with the next dove, spitting the head out on the table, and [the woman] fell on the floor screaming. That’s when they threw me out. They said I’d never work for CBS again."

Today YOU get to pick the Ozzy song that airs at 3:50pm with Classic Rock on Demand. Look for the voting to get underway around 3:30pm
