Tyler Seguin Scores 40th Goal On Mike Modano Night

It's been a rollercoaster of emotions for Dallas Stars fans these past few weeks.

At the beginning of March, the team was sitting comfortably in a playoff spot awaiting the post season. Fast-forward to the end of March and it's a much different story. The Dallas Stars embarked on an excruciating EIGHT game losing streak that essentially killed all chance of making the playoffs, and the team is poised to be on the outside looking in for the eighth time in the last ten years.

So it was fair to say the home crowd was in dire need of some positive vibes heading into the final home game of the 2017/18 regular season. Not only was Friday night's game 'Fan Appreciation Night' it was also the final 'Retro Night' celebrating the team's 25 years in Dallas. That meant an appearance by the face of the franchise, the greatest Dallas Stars player of all time, Mike Modano.

As PA Announcer for the Stars, here's how I welcomed him to center ice....

and here's how it looked from the PA chair rinkside...

The other big storyline of the night would be whether Stars forward Tyler Seguin would score his milestone 40th goal of the season in front of the home crowd?

In the waning seconds of the game the fans got their answer...

Seguin became just the 3rd player in Dallas Stars history to record 40 goals in a single season, joining his buddy (and team captain) Jamie Benn, alongside the Hall of Famer Mike Modano who just happened to be in the building.

Synergy!
