Dallas Stars Set To Hire New Head Coach

It's a new era for the Dallas Stars, and Friday morning at 10:30 the club will make it official with the announcement of Jim Montgomery as the team's next head coach. The 48-year old has been the bench boss at Denver University for the past 5 years, winning the NCAA championship in 2017. Following a new trend in the NHL, "Monty" will be just the fifth coach in history to jump straight from the college ranks to head coach in the NHL.

Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News compares Montgomery to Jason Garrett due to his success being built on "The Process," a term Garrett has used ad nauseum the past several years to get the Cowboys to buy in.

Montgomery's process led to a collegiate championship. Let's hope it translates at the professional level.
