It's been a crazy 24 hours for Big Beat Dallas. Yesterday, owner Billy Bob Barnett (of Billy Bob's fame) posted a (now removed) message on the entertainment district's Facebook page saying that they were ceasing operations as of 12 am 5/29/18. Lawyers for Barnett say there were problems with the landlord and a lack of promised parking and entrances that were blocked.
Folks at Live Nation who run the neighboring Pavilion at the Toyota Music Factory say it's business as usual for them however, it appears hundreds of employees who worked for the various restaurants in the surrounding Big Beat Dallas plaza area are out of a job. As of Tuesday evening, crews were taking down outdoor TV sets and disabling awnings and security guards were directing customers off the property.
Reports from the Ark Group, the management company, say eventually the five now-closed restaurants will be reactivated and the plaza stage will be back in action soon, however, no timetable has been set yet.
Stay tuned!
