Tonight See Dark Side Of Oz

You've heard about the coincidences, but have you ever actually stopped down to sync up Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon with the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz? Well, the fine folks at Dallas' legendary Texas Theatre are commemorating the anniversary of the release of the film (on this day in 1939) by doing all the heavy lifting for you! Click the pic below or go here for more info on the Dark Side of Oz screening TONIGHT, August 25th. Scroll down to learn more about the coincidences.

Dark Side Of Oz

Some of the coincidences include

  1.  The lyric "Balanced on the biggest wave" as Dorothy is balanced on the fence.
  2. "Brain Damage" - which corresponds with the movie's "If I Only Had a Brain" scene, as the lyrics "The lunatic is on the grass" and "Got to keep the loonies on the path" we see the Scarecrow, stuffed with dried grass, then flopping around on the Yellow Brick Road.
  3. Side one of the vinyl album is exactly as long as the black and white portion of the film.
  4. The heartbeat at the end of the album lines up with Dorothy listening to the Tin Man's heart.

Back in 1997 Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason told MTV "It's absolute nonsense. It has nothing to do with The Wizard of Oz. It was all based on The Sound of Music"

Lolz! check out what Nick had to say again in 2008 below

If you'd rather not see it on the big screen (with awesome sound) you can always cheat and watch it on YouTube below.
