Remembering Gary Richrath On His Birthday

Gary Dean Richrath was born on this day in 1949. Gary was a legendary guitarist, best known as the lead guitarist and a songwriter for REO Speedwagon from 1970 until 1989. Richrath wrote, performed, and even sang on some of REO's early hits, including "Golden Country", "Ridin' The Storm Out", "Flying Turkey Trot", "Take It On The Run" and many more. Sadly, we lost Gary on September 13, 2015, due to an undisclosed stomach ailment. He was 65.

In his honor, YOU get to pick the REO Speedwagon song I play today at 3:50 pm with Classic Rock on Demand. VOTE HERE (voting gets underway around 3:30 pm).

In the meantime check out a few of Gary's finest moments with REO Speedwagon
