Hard to believe it's been more than 2 decades since Simple Minds performed in DFW but it's true. They played the Bronco Bowl in 1995 and the year prior (1994) I introduced them on-stage at the KDGE The Edge Christmas Concert at the Fair Park Coliseum. Fast forward 23 years, and while the original band members certainly look older, they sounded as young and energetic as ever. Original guitarist Charlie Burchill (58) was flawless and singer Jim Kerr (59) was energetic, prowling the stage, bantering with the crowd, and sweating through three different shirts and jackets! Fans of the early stuff (like me) were treated to gems like "Promised You A Miracle," "Someone Somewhere in Summertime," "New Gold Dream," "Waterfront," and "Up On The Catwalk." Of course, no Simple Minds show would be complete without their biggest hit (off the Breakfast Club soundtrack) "Don't You Forget About Me" which turned into a fun sing-along.
