Turns out Globe Life Park will NOT be coming down. Instead, it will be the home of a new pro football team, as part of the relaunch of the XFL. The league officially announced its eight new franchise locations on Wednesday, one of which is Arlington. The others include Houston, St. Louis, L.A., Tampa, Seattle, New York, and Washington D.C. League play is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2020.
You may remember WWE CEO Vince McMahon tried the whole XFL thing in 2001 and it only lasted one season before folding. Well, McMahon said Wednesday at a press conference this time things will be very different. More family friendly, affordable and most importantly, good football.
The XFL season will begin the week after the Super Bowl in February of 2020.
