Born on this day in 1947, Gregory Lenoir "Gregg" Allman, the American singer-songwriter and musician, best known for performing in the Allman Brothers Band, would have turned 71. Gregg wrote several of the band's biggest songs, including "Whipping Post", "Melissa", and "Midnight Rider."
Sadly, we lost Gregg earlier this year on May 27, 2017, due to complications from liver cancer. He was 69 years old. In Gregg's honor, check out this full Allman Bros concert from 1970 - filmed at the Fillmore East in NYC.
