Chester Bennington's First Band Recruits His Son to Re-Record Old Material

Before Chester Bennington was screaming his heart out for Linkin Park, he was singing with an Arizona post-grunge band called Grey Daze. Now, nearly two years after his tragic death, Chester's first band has recruited his 22-year-old son Jaime to re-record vocals on some of their old material. In addition to Jaime, the band also enlisted the help of Korn guitarists Brian “Head” Welch and James “Munky” Shaffer, along with Bush’s Chris Trainor and P.O.D.’s Marcos Curiel.

Over the weekend, Grey Daze posted a gallery of photos from inside the studio on Facebook. “Chester would have been so very proud of his son Jaime Bennington," they wrote in the caption. "We had Jaime sing along with his father last night at NRG Recording Studios and his voice is great! Sounds a lot like his father and we were all very proud to be a part of it.”

Last month, Lamb of Godguitarist Mark Mortonshared a song called "Cross Off" that features Chester. The late rockstar's Linkin Park bandmate Mike Shinoda shared a thoughtful tweet about the track. "I remember when Chester played this song for me in his car, almost finished," the singer/producer recalled. "He was really happy with it. Good stuff, Mark."Chester took his own life in 2017.
