First David Bowie 'Starman' Demo Reel Hits Auction Block

Talk about finding hidden treasure! A demo believed to be the first recording of David Bowie's hit song "Starman" is hitting the auction block. Omega Auctions in the UK estimates this old reel-to-reel tape could fetch as much as $13,000. According to the backstory, the tape had been given to a young friend of Mick Ronson's back in 1971 and after the friend listened to it he packed away in a box and totally forgot about it for nearly 50 years. Bowie can be heard on the demo telling guitarist Mick Ronson he had not finished the song when he tried to end the recording. The demo also contains recordings of Bowie songs "Moonage Daydream" and "Hang Onto Yourself." Click the image below to see the auction site listing.
