Released on this day in 1989, Sonic Temple is the fourth studio album by The Cult. Produced by Bob Rock, the album continued the band's more straight forward hard-rock progression and featured some of their most popular songs, including "Fire Woman", "Sun King", "Edie (Ciao Baby)" and "Sweet Soul Sister," resulting in their highest chart position at No.10 and eventually being certified platinum in 1993. In honor of the 30th Anniversary, The Cult has announced a special live event at LA's Greek Theatre, which will be transformed into its own "Sonic Temple" on June 15th and feature a myriad of guest performers including Zola Jesus, Prayers, and Vowws. The Cult will also be reissuing Sonic Temple later this year.
