If you had told Stars fans ahead of Game 1 they come home from Nashville with the split after 2, they'd have been ecstatic. Knowing we were one goal away from being up 2-0 in the Series, definitely stings a bit. While an OT loss in Game 2 wasn't the outcome we'd hoped for, two games in the Dallas Stars have proven one thing, they belong in this Series. After a scoreless first period, it was the Captain, Jamie Benn who got the scoring started in the second period, when he converted a sweet feed from his BFF Tyler Seguin.
It wouldn't take long for the Nashville Predators to strike back as diminutive pest Rocco Grimaldi potted his first ever Playoff goal. Ironically, Grimaldi wasn't even supposed to play in this game. He was a late replacement for Brian Boyle who was unable to go due to an illness. Such is Playoff hockey.
The Stars and Preds would play a tight, scoreless third period. The Stars had their chances on the power play all game, in fact the PP went 0-6 on the night. They're going to need to see improvement there moving forward. The game would go to overtime and Craig Smith would end it with a goal Ben Bishop admitted he never saw. Scroll down to see the goal, and Bishop's post game reaction.
After the game the Stars players said all the right things. They're not gonna dwell on the loss, just as they didn't dwell on the Game One win. The good news is they're headed home for the next two, in fact 3 of the next 4 are on home ice. If you're lucky enough to hold a ticket to Monday's Game 3 be sure to get to the AAC early to enjoy the Party on the Plaza, and be in your seat in time to watch the incredible playoff video open. Game time is 8:30pm. #GoStars
