Historic Ambassador Hotel Goes Up In Flames

Big bummer as a historic Dallas landmark was destroyed by fire early Tuesday. The Ambassador Hotel was built 115 years ago in the Cedars neighborhood just south of downtown Dallas. Originally known as the Majestic Hotel, it was once considered Dallas' "first suburban luxury hotel." In its heyday, it hosted three presidents: Teddy Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and Woodrow Wilson. It took almost 100 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was under control around 5 a.m. Thankfully, no one was injured in the blaze, however the building is a total loss. Ironically, the hotel was in the process of being renovated for lofts and shops.
