The 52 Year Drought Is Over, St Louis Blues Stanley Cup Champs

As a Dallas Stars fan (and employee) it's not easy to swallow my pride and congratulate the St Louis Blues. After all, the Stars came within one-inch of a Jamie Benn wrap-around in double overtime to beat these Blues in Game 7 of Round 2. As a hockey fan it's really easy to celebrate these Blues. They ended the longest wait for a first title in NHL history - 52 years, and they also prevented Boston from winning yet ANOTHER title. The Blues' staff also features a few former Dallas Stars, most notably, Brett Hull who is currently serving as an executive vice president for St Louis. The Blues GM is Doug Armstrong, who previously held that same position in Dallas. And how can I not be happy for Steve Ott? "Otter" was another fan-favorite in Dallas who's currently an assistant coach for the Blues.

So yes, as a hockey fan I'm happy for the Blues. As a Stars fan I'm ready to move on. Up next the NHL Draft, then free agency, then training camp, then the Stars begin their quest to take Lord Stanley's Cup away from the Blues. Ironically, the first preseason game at AAC (just announced today) is September 16th, AGAINST THE BLUES!
