No Band Has Sold More Rock Albums In 2019 Than Queen

Thanks to the ongoing success of the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen continues to be king of the rock album charts in the first half of 2019. In fact, no other band has sold more rock albums so far this year. According to Nielsen Music’s mid-year 2019 rock charts, the band owns the two most popular rock albums: the Bohemian Rhapsody film soundtrack and its Greatest Hits album. During the tracking period of January 4 through June 20, 2019, Bohemian Rhapsody earned 705,000 equivalent album units in the U.S., while Greatest Hits earned 385,000 units. As you'll see below, other Classic Rockers ruled the charts as well. Elton John, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Journey, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, even the classic rock-heavy Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1 made the Top 10.
