1 In 5 North Texans Victims Of 'Porch Pirates'

We've all ordered packages online without thinking twice about them being left on our front porch. Well, now local police departments are warning residents about "porch pirates" and for good reason. According to statistics a whopping 20% of North Texans, 1 in 5 people, have been victims of this crime. Now, thanks to video doorbells it's easier to document and hopefully apprehend these thieves. Not all of us have the latest tech so what can we do? Well, some folks have resorted to having their packages delivered at work, and others have been encouraged by local law enforcement to have packages delivered to local Police Stations. Governor Greg Abbott signed a law over the summer making it a felony to steal packages off front porches.
