Dallas Stars fans awoke to some shocking news today as Jim Montgomery has been dismissed as the team's Head Coach, and effective immediately, Rick Bowness, who has served as Assistant Coach since June 22, 2018, will assume the role of Interim Head Coach for the team. You can watch the press conference (above) with GM Jim Nill, though not many more details have been provided since the original press release stating "This decision was made due to unprofessional conduct inconsistent with the core values and beliefs of the Dallas Stars and the National Hockey League." Bowness will be the sixth Stars head coach since 2011, joining Marc Crawford, Glen Gulutzan, Lindy Ruff, Ken Hitchcock and Jim Montgomery. To put that in perspective, the Cowboys and Mavericks have had one head coach during that span.
The Stars face the New Jersey Devils tonight at 7:30pm inside the AAC.
