Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will not be an on-site dedication at Kiest Park for the new work of public art paying tribute to the musical contributions of Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan. The Vaughan brothers grew up near Kiest Park and the artwork is located just inside the park off Hampton Road. A series of interviews with Jimmie Vaughan and City Officials will be posted on the City of Dallas, Office of Arts and Culture, Park and Recreation Department Facebook pages and the City of Dallas cable channel, YouTube, Instagram, & Twitter. Filmed by the City’s Communications, Outreach & Marketing team, the interviews will be posted on or before Oct. 3.
A celebration is planned at the site for March 20, 2021, if COVID restrictions allow.
