Metallica Helping Hands Concert and Auction Stream...

Those who bought tickets for Metallica's Helping Hands: Live and Acoustic from HQ streamed concert and auction to benefit their All Within My Hands charity on Saturday got even more than they paid for.

The band not only offered up the promised acoustic set, which featured eight songs, but then strapped on their electric guitars and played six more.

Performing in front of fans who were shown remotely in the kind of Zoom-style arrangement that's become commonplace for TV events during the pandemic, James Hetfield told them it was “the closest we can get to having a crowd” and regularly addressed them between songs.

The 14 songs included three covers – Deep Purple’s “When A Blind Man Cries, ”Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page” and the live debut of “The House of the Rising Sun." They also played “Wasting My Hate” for the first time in nearly a decade as well as their re-imagined version of "Disposable Heroes"
