Sammy Hagar & The Circle have released a video of their version of David Bowie's "Heroes" off their new album, Lockdown 2020.
The video pays tribute to frontline workers, and heroes from all walks of life.
"When we started the Lockdown@Homesessions, we had no idea nearly a year later that we'd still be in this situation," says Hagar. "Recording the song and creating the music video for 'Heroes' gave us a chance to tip our hats to all the frontline workers on every level our of communities. From the doctors and medical workers, to the grocery stores, police, firefighters, scientists, and more who've put their own lives on the line to do their jobs and help others. For us, their contributions kind of sum up the best of 2020."
Also recognized in the video are:
- Bowie, who died five years ago this past January 10th
- Van Halen, in memory of Eddie Van Halen
- Hagar's business partner and celebrity chef Guy Fieri, who raised $21.5-million for restaurant workers
- Circle bassist Michael Anthony and his family, who raised money for Children's Hospital Los Angeles in memory of his grandson Rex who died from heart disease in 2017, two weeks after he was born
Hagar & The Circle will donate all proceeds from "Heroes" to food banks and relief efforts nationwide.
